Journal ID : AMJ-02-12-2023-11712; Author : Thasmia Nakhva, Premjit Bhakat, Judy Jose,
Abstract : COVID-19 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2 was announced as a worldwide pandemic on March 11, 2020, by the World Health Organization (WHO). This resulted in a significant shift in social interaction and changes in people’s daily lives, including the use of contact lenses. This study investigated attitudes and behaviours toward contact lens wearing among existing users during the pandemic. A web-based cross-sectional online survey was conducted during the COVID-19 to investigate people's attitudes and behaviour towards contact lens (CL) wear and care. The questionnaire was designed using a Google form created specifically for CL users. Each participant's demographic data, as well as their CL history and description, were obtained. A total of 530 CL users were approached,113 completed the questionnaire with an average age of 25 ± 6.2, with 84% of participants being females. 58% percent of participants had no change in contact lens wearing time, whereas 33% had stopped and 10% had reduced wearing contact lenses during the pandemic. The possible reason for discontinuing contact lenses was reduced social activity during the pandemic. Overall, 40% of the participants changed their behaviour toward CL wear and care habits, including hand washing and other routines. The majority of the participants reported no change in CL care and maintenance habits. During the pandemic, most of the target population continued to wear CLs. Contact lens wearers indicated a change in their attitude regarding CL use. CL discontinuation has been linked to a range of perceived reasons, the most common of which are decreased outdoor activity and concern of infection. There was no profound change in CL care and maintenance in most participants during the pandemic.

Journal ID : AMJ-25-11-2023-11709; Author : Nour Elallan, Bassel Albrad, Saleh Al Kurdi, Hasan Alzoubi,
Abstract : This study aimed to compare conventional Nanofats and unfiltered Nanofats in terms of their ability to heal Acne scars. The study sample consisted of 16 patients divided into two groups: Group 1 (Experminteal, n=8) Unfiltered Nanofats graft for treatment of acne scars, and Group 2 (Control, n=8) Conventional Nanofats graft for treatment of acne scars. Post-treatment clinical follow-ups were conducted one and three months after injection using the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS). All patients completed the clinical study according to the two follow-up time points. The study revealed no significant differences between conventional and unfiltered Nanofats grafts in treating atrophic acne scars. Among the limitations of this study, it was found that unfiltered Nanofats lead to a noticeable improvement in atrophic Acne scars in terms of appearance and scar thickness. This improvement is comparable to the improvement observed when using conventional Nanofats in treating these scars.

Evaluation of dentoalveolar changes following functional treatment in-patient with class II division I malocclusion-using Intermaxillary Lip Bumper in comparison with Activator: A randomized clinical trial
Journal ID : AMJ-21-11-2023-11705; Author : Saleem Kayali, Mohamed Youssef,
Abstract : This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Intermaxillary lip bumper in the treatment of Class II/1-malocclusion compared with the Activator. This was a randomized, parallel, two arm, and single center trial. It consist of 40 (21 female and 19 male) patients with class II/1-malocclusion. They were divided equally into activator groups (11 male and 9 female) and Intermaxillary lip bumper group (10 male and 10 female). Pre-and post- treatment dental cast model were evaluated by measuring the intermolars widths, arch length, Overjet, overbite and arch depth. Wilcoxon signed-ranks tests were used for intra-group comparisons, whereas Mann-Whitney U tests were used for inter-group comparisons. The differences between the two groups were substantially different at 0.01 after Bonferroni correction. The differences in variables Overjet and Overbite were only significant in pre-and post-treatment intergroup (p≤0.01), whereas there is no significant differences between the studied groups (p≥0.01).
