Study of oxidative stress and antioxidant levels in Emphysema patients
Journal ID : AMJ-25-01-2023-11138; Author : Dr Shaik Sajeed, Dr Nagaraj, Dr Anand K. Pyati, Dr Mirza Sharif Ahmed Baig,
Abstract : Emphysema is associated with high incidence of morbidity and mortality in india. The imbalance between oxidative stress and antioxidants play a major role in the Emphysema pathogenesis. Aim of this study is to estimate serum levels of Malondialdehyde (MDA) as a biomarker of lipid peroxidation and non enzymatic antioxidant vitamin E in Emphysema patients and healthy controls. A total number of 80 subjects comprising of 40 healthy controls and 40 Emphysema cases were studied. Serum malondialdehyde estimated by Kei Satoh Method and Serum vitamin E was measured by Baker and Frank method. Serum MDA was significantly increased in Emphysema patients when compared to controls where as serum level of vitamin E significantly decreased in Emphysema patients when compared to controls. Oxidative stress is increased in Emphysema patients which seems to be associated with active smoking habit and also due to systemic inflammation. The decrease in level of antioxidant in Emphysema patients appears to be consequence of increased oxidative stress and its excess consumption. By advising rich antioxidant diet or additional supplementation of antioxidants may prevent the further oxidative damage in emphysema patients.

Human Metabolomics in patients with inflammatory bowel disease
Journal ID : AMJ-24-01-2023-11134; Author : Nikolay Tsonev, Dimitar Zvezdov,
Abstract : Inflammatory bowel diseases comprise of ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, both of which have increasing incidence. Despite not having completely undestood pathogenesis, genetic factors, environmental factors and microbiota are thought to play a role in a predisposed individual. Common symptoms include abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, weight loss and rectal bleeding. Diagnosis is made by clinical, laboratory, endoscopic, radiologic and histologic examinations. Nevertheless, about 15% of patients do not have a definitive diagnosis. Metabolomics measures metabolites in a biological sample (feces, serum, urine, tissue and air) thereby having the potential to clarify disease pathogenesis and find new biomarkers, which will then aid in diagnosis, guide therapy and give prognosis.

Management of antithrombotics in gastrointestinal endoscopy
Journal ID : AMJ-24-01-2023-11133; Author : Nikolay Tsonev, Diana Vandeva, Katerina Toncheva,
Abstract : Anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents are widely used drugs for cardiovascular prevention and reducing the risk of thromboembolic events. Gastrointestinal bleeding represents a serious complication of their use. On the other hand gastrointestinal endoscopy is related with bleeding risk – there is bleeding risk stratification according to endoscopic procedures (high and low risk ones). Treatment with antithrombotic drugs in periprocedural endoscopic period is based on balancing the bleeding risk against the thromboembolic risk. Antithrombotic agents in endoscopic procedures with lower bleeding risk are not needed to be withheld. It’s recommended temporary discontinuation of antithrombotic treatment in high risk endoscopic procedures and to consider use of “bridging” therapy with LWMH for patients on vitamin K antagonist who are at high thrombotic risk. Evaluating cardiovascular risk and management of antithrombotic therapy could be a challenge for gastrointestinal endoscopist, therefore collaboration with cardiologist is of great importance, at least for some patients.

Comparison of Retention Between Two Aligner Products Before and After Thermocycling
Journal ID : AMJ-24-01-2023-11132; Author : Ezzuldin Yaseen Aljumaily, Ali R. Al-Khatib,
Abstract : The use of clear orthodontic aligners has increased as an alternative to conventional braces. Therefore, knowledge about the characteristics of the aligner materials can help to provide more accurate treatment results and give orthodontists who are utilizing or planning to employ this technology more information about their behaviour. This study aimed to investigate and compare the effect of thermocycling on the retention measurement of two aligner products used in the fabrication of orthodontic aligners. Two thermoplastic products of Duran® 0.75 mm and Erkodur® 1 mm were used in this study. Digital impressions were obtained for the upper and lower arches of 10 patients. Digital models with two rectangular attachments in the first and second premolars were constructed by using blue sky plan software. After the construction of orthodontic aligners, retention tests were measured using a tensile test with a universal testing machine to measure the maximum forces required to remove the aligners from the models. Twenty aligners were fabricated for each type of product, and measurements were conducted before and after thermocycling. Duran® upper aligners retention showed no significant changes in comparison with Erkodur®, however, Duran® lower aligners showed significant changes in comparison with Erkodur® before thermocycling. However, Duran® aligners showed no significant change, whereas, Erkodur® in both upper and lower arches showed a significant decrease in retention after thermocycling. The retention of the Duran® aligner is higher than that of Erkodur® and thermocycling decreased the retention of the aligners fabricated from Erkodur® in comparison with Duran® aligners.

COMMUNICATION ASSESSMENT OF CARE PROFESIONAL PERSONNEL ON PATIENT DEVELOPMENT RECORDS INTEGRATED MEDICAL RECORD DOCUMENTS LEVEL II PELAMONIA HOSPITAL, MAKASSAR CITY INDONESIA
Journal ID : AMJ-24-01-2023-11129; Author : Muhammad Thabran Talib, Asriyanti, Muhammad Erwin Rosyadi, Lilik Meilany,
Abstract : Health communication is a study that studies how to use communication strategies to disseminate health information that can influence individuals and communities so that they can make informed decisions regarding health management. The purpose is to know the assessment of the communication of care personnel on the integrated patient records of the medical record documents of the Pelamonia Makassar Tingkat II Hospital. Descriptive research with a quantitative approach using total sampling with a large research sample of 132 respondents, data collection was carried out with a questionnaire. Caregivers in accordance with communication on integrated patient records are effective. This is evidenced by the respondents' statements that match the communication of 103 respondents (100%), the communication of the information of 103 respondents (100%), the communication of the education of 103 respondents (100%), and the communication of Persuasion of 85 respondents (83%). Assessment of communication between caregivers has worked well according to the integrated patient record function of preventing misinformation, preventing repetitive information, and helping caregivers in their time management to reduce errors and improve patient safety during the treatment period. Integrated patient records will allow all caregivers to communicate with each other and convey information in writing about the patient's progress in the same record and collaborate in patient care.
