Abstract : To prevent morbidity and mortality associated with Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) the governments took strict actions to control the spread of disease. This study aimed to assess the attitude and behavioral responses people in Qassim region to the preventive measures taken by the Saudi Government. This is an online cross-sectional survey that was conducted in the Qassim region among adult population. A structured questionnaire in Arabic would be used to collect the data. Data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). A total 438 participants were included in this study. The mean age was 29.5 ± 8.3 years and most of respondents were males 69.6%. Our findings showed that the average behavior and attitude score was 9.5 ± 2.9 out of a total score of 16. The higher percentage of participants (72.6%) showed poor behavior and attitude towards the preventive measures against COVID-19 taken by the Saudi Government and only 120 (27.4%) showed good behavior and attitude. Furthermore, we found that there is statistically significant association between behavioral response and attitude towards COVID-19 preventive measures and marital status, education and age (P values= < 0.001, 0.025 and 0.002 respectively). The highest percentage of good behavioral response and attitude was observed among married, primary educated and older participants. The behavior and attitude towards the preventive measures against COVID-19 taken by the Saudi Government was found to insufficient among people in Qassim region in Saudi Arabia. Thus, adequate educational programs and interventions are needed.

Free Fasciocutaneous Anterolateral Thigh Flap for Soft Tissue Reconstruction in A Patient with Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinoma: The ideal flap
Journal ID : AMJ-28-05-2023-11510; Author : Mohd Farid Mohd Amin, Muath Mamdouh Mahmod Al-Chalabi, Wan Azman Wan Sulaiman,
Abstract : The most frequent location for oral cavity cancer is the tongue, where squamous cell carcinoma is the predominant cancer form. It is known that squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue demands a great challenge, particularly in proper treatment planning. Ablative surgery followed by free flap reconstruction is now considered the gold standard treatment for squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue. The free anterolateral thigh flap has now gained more popularity among reconstructive surgeons for tongue reconstruction. However, the bulkiness of the neo-tongue can somehow affect mobility and the cosmetic outcome. This article presents a case of tongue squamous cell carcinoma in which hemiglossectomy is performed, and free tissue transfer of a fasciocutaneous anterolateral thigh flap is used to reconstruct the new tongue. We highlight the cosmetic outcome and the tongue's functions as they were optimally restored with this reconstruction choice, making the fasciocutaneous anterolateral thigh flap one of the ideal flaps for tongue reconstruction regarding aesthetic and functional outcomes.

Evaluation of the effect of ozone application and low-level laser therapy on the early success of dental implants in patients with type 2 diabetes
Journal ID : AMJ-27-05-2023-11509; Author : Waddah Mahmoud Shash, Ammar Mahmoud Mashlah, Taissir Al-Bounni, Mohammad Y. Hajeer, Abeer Ahmad Aljoujou,
Abstract : Diabetes mellitus is considered a risk factor for the success of dental implants, so this study aims to evaluate the effect of ozone and soft laser on the success of dental implants in these patients. The study sample consisted of 18 patients (11 males, 7 females) who attended the Department of Oral Medicine at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Damascus, and who had type 2 diabetes, dental implants were performed in these patients, and the sample was divided into two groups of 16 implants. Ozone and laser were applied to them immediately after implantation and 16 control implants. The clinical evaluation was carried out by examining the presence of inflammation after one month and after 6 months before performing the functional load on the dental implants. We did not see any effect of ozone and soft laser on the early success of dental implants in diabetic patients. As two cases of inflammation were seen after 6 months after the surgical examination of dental implants, it was treated before the functional load. There is no effect of diabetes on the early success of dental implants, and there is no effect of ozone and soft laser on the early success of dental implants in patients with diabetes.

Journal ID : AMJ-27-05-2023-11508; Author : Soraya Rejeki, Rina Amalia Saragih, Arlinda Sari Wahyuni, Olga Rasiyanti Siregar, Rosmayanti Syafriani Siregar, Ayodhia Pitaloka Pasaribu,
Abstract : Children are known to be less infected by Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rather than adults. However, they are still a vulnerable group and the incidence of patient’s admission to the hospital continues to increase. Therefore, the aim of this study was to describe the clinical characteristics and outcome in children infected with SARS-CoV-2 who were treated at the three participating referral hospitals for COVID-19 in North Sumatera. This was a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted at a referral centers for COVID-19 in North Sumatera, Indonesia. The data on clinical characteristics and outcome of children (aged ≤ 18 year-old) with COVID-19 illness and who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 by RT-PCR from April 2020 - March 2021 were reviewed and analyzed. A total of 218 children were hospitalized and confirmed COVID-19 positive with the majority were more than 10 year-old (44.5%), girl (54,5%), and the common symptoms were fever (75.6%), cough (67.8%) and coryza (41.3%). Even among the symptomatic COVID-19 cases, severe manifestations are seen in very few children. Most of the patients had mild to moderate disease, and only 5,9% had a severe or critical illness. The mortality rate of children with SARS-CoV-2 was 6,3% (7/218). In the early pandemic, the majority of children were found to have mild to moderate symptoms with good outcomes. Severe and critical illness were observed in children were associated with underlying conditions.

Prevalence and associated factors of dentin hypersensitivity in IRAQI students
Journal ID : AMJ-26-05-2023-11507; Author : Mohanad. A. Kadhim,
Abstract : To assess the prevalence of dentin hypersensitivity (DH) and etiological factors among undergraduate students from Iraq- Maysan Governorate. 280 students of Al-Manara College for medical science, Iraq, enrolled in a cross-sectional survey. A self-report questionnaire was used for DH diagnosis and confirmed by tactile and evaporative tests clinically. Statistical analysis Descriptive and chi-square test p<0.05 were done. The prevalence of DH in the sample was 19.0%. DH prevalence to the tactile stimulus was higher in those participants whose toothbrush movement was vertical/horizontal (OR = 3.13, 95% CI = 1.27–7.7, p < 0.001), in the female group (OR = 3.01, 95% CI = 1.17–7.7, p = 0.010), in the presence of dental biofilm (OR = 2.8, 95% CI = 0.64–12.29, p < 0,001). When DH was diagnosed by evaporative stimulus, there was a significant association with accumulation of dental biofilm (OR = 4.33; 95% CI = 1–18.73; p = 0.027), gingival recession (OR = 2.15; 95% CI = 1.09–4.23; p = 0.004) on the affected tooth, and with the use of mouth rains solutions (OR = 2.39; 95% CI = 1.01–5.67; p = 0.016). DH registered a high frequency in our sample. Students with DH were more likely to show traumatic dental brushing, the existence of dental biofilm, and gingival recession in the affected teeth.
