The Relation Between Mandibular Alveolar Ridge Resorption and the Effect of complete Denture on Oral Health-Related Quality of Life
Journal ID : AMJ-08-04-2023-11414; Author : Mohamad Hussein Sheffeh, Ghassan Wazir,
Abstract : This research aims to study the relationship between mandibular alveolar resorption and the effect of complete dentures on oral health-related quality of life. Study materials and methods: The research sample included 100 patients treated with conventional complete dentures at the Department of Removable Prosthodontics at Damascus University. Patients’ selection was based on general health and previous denture use. In order to avoid effects of health problems on oral health-related quality of life, healthy edentulous patients were selected. And who had not previously used any dentures; to avoid the impact of previous experiences. Oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) was measured twice using the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-EDENT). The first measurement was during the first session, and the second one was one month following the treatment with complete dentures and after making all the adjustments. The results were collected and analysed through the statistical program SPSS version (24). Statistical tests: T-Test for paired samples, One Way ANOVA TEST were used and the significance level was set at P<0.05. Results: The results showed that after treatment with complete denture all domains of the OHIP-EDENT showed significant improvements (p-value=0.001). There was no significant differences between alveolar bone resorption and (OHRQOL). Conclusion: Conventional complete dentures improve oral health-related quality of life.

The Effectiveness of Digital Psychoeducation Malnutrition in Children Under 6 Years Old in Indonesia
Journal ID : AMJ-08-04-2023-11413; Author : Fitriani Nur Damayanti, Lia Mulyanti, Novita Nining Anggraini, Yuliana Noor Setiawati Ulvie, Lawitra Khiaokham,
Abstract : Stunting is still a problem in Indonesia. Slowing down toddlers requires special attention because it can slow down children's physical growth, mental development and health. The purpose of this study is to find out a comparison of the effectiveness of digital psychoeducation of malnutrition in children under 6 years of age in Indonesia and Thailand. This research was conducted in the city of Semarang. Sampling was done using non-probability sampling technique using purposive sampling. Psychoeducation about stunting is effective in increasing parental knowledge about stunting, especially nutrition for children so as to prevent stunting in children under 6 years of age. Stunting psychoeducation is an activity to increase the understanding of individuals, groups, and communities about stunting in children.

Assessment of Peri-Implant Bone Density Changes in Compressive Dental Implants in Posterior Mandible: A Radiographic Study
Journal ID : AMJ-07-04-2023-11412; Author : Nassim Bitar, Zafin Kara Beit, Ahmad Albassal, Nuraldeen Maher Al-Khanati,
Abstract : Immediate loading of dental implants has witnessed a rapid evolution over the years; New implant designs and systems have appeared. Hence, more studies are needed to better determine the efficacy and clinical outcomes of these systems. This study aimed to assess radiographic bone gray-scale values changes around the newly-designed compressive implants after immediate loading. A prospective clinical study was carried out. 10 compressive implants were placed in patients having missing teeth in the posterior region of the mandible. Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) was used to follow-up patients immediately, 6 months, and 12 months postoperatively. Grey-scale values from the CBCT images were implemented as indicators for bone density around dental implants. Changes in grey-scale values around the implants were evaluated from the buccal, lingual, mesial and distal implant sides. An increase in the average values of bone density around implants was observed throughout all studied periods, and these findings were more significant after 6 months post-surgically. In conclusion, the compressive threads and tapered design of compressive dental implants allowed forming a highly dense bone around the implant, and high primary stability was achieved, which in turn contributed to the overall success of these implants in immediate loading.

Quercetin Flavonoid Represses Gastric Ulcerations in Wistar Rats, Accelerates Motility in Co-administrations with Vitamin C
Journal ID : AMJ-05-04-2023-11409; Author : Ogagayere Lucky Omamuzo, Ekene Nwoke, Efegbere Henry Akpojubaro, Alexander Obidike Naiho, John Chukwuka Igweh,
Abstract : Existing reports are speculative on the gastro-protective actions of quercetin (QCT) flavonoid and its potency in ulcer healing as employed in modern ethno-medicine. Forty five (45) matured female wistar rats (150-200g) were acclimatized for 2 weeks, fed standard rat chow ad libitum, and assigned into 9 groups of 5 rats each. With group 1 being control, groups 3 – 9 (experimental) were fed varying doses of QCT after inducing gastrotoxicity (ulcer) with indomethacin. Whilst group 2 animals formed negative control group (untreated). Groups 3 – 9 respectively received 40 mg/kg of QCT, 60 mg/kg QCT, 80 mg/kg QCT, vitamin C, vitamin C + 40 mg/kg QCT, vitamin C + 60 mg/kg QCT, and vitamin C + 80 mg/kg of QCT treatments for 3 weeks after ulcer confirmation. After treatment periods, animals were euthanized, stomach harvested, salt-washed and subjected through, gastric volume, motility and pH tests while observing the degrees of ulceration across treatment groups with a 10× magnifying lens, notably at different levels of mucosa lesions (ulcer scoring). The ulcer severity and mucosa lesion were also observed to full erosive ranges at different extremes, while calculating QCT and/or vitamin C treatments from the curative ratio. Statistical mean differences was conducted for each group, using the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). All calculations were assessed at 0.05 confidence, with p-value < 0.05 adjudged as statistically significant. From the result, ANOVA returned a statistically insignificant decrease in gastric volume of gastrotoxic untreated animals (negative control) relative control. This increased significantly (p < 0.05) with QCT + vitamin C co-administrations as compared with untreated animals. Also, a statistically significant increase (p < 0.05) was noted in gastric pH for untreated animals relative control. This decreased significantly (p < 0.05) with QCT + vitamin C co-administrations except in 60mg QCT + vitamin C treats compared with untreated animals. Gastric emptying decreased insignificantly in ulceric, untreated animals as compared with control group. Thus, QCT + Vit. C co-administrations proved potent and efficacious in ulcer healing, relative to single QCT treatment option. Similar studies on the Gut-Brain axis for QCT-vitamin C treatments at varying doses is recommended.

Severe pruritus, dizziness, headache, and myalgia following rosuvastatin and sildenafil combination: A case report
Journal ID : AMJ-05-04-2023-11408; Author : Khalid Alhazmi, Mohammed Alraddadi, Hyder Mirghani,
Abstract : Rosuvastatin is a lipid-lowering drug; it is more potent than atorvastatin and simvastatin among both Caucasian and East Asian patients with dyslipidemias [2]. However, the drug is not free from side effects, especially when combined with other medications or specific food. The side effects ranged from mild itching, dizziness, and oral ulcers to hepatitis and fatal rhabdomyolysis. We presented an a60-year old male with type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia for 18 years, his medications were metformin 2 grams/day, gliclazide MR 60mg daily, Sitagliptin 100mg once daily, and atorvastatin 20mg at bedtime. Due to the filling delay, the patient took two doses of rosuvastatin 20mg in place of atorvastatin. In addition, he took sildenafil 50mg. twelve hours later the patient developed severe pruritus, dizziness, headache, and myalgia. All the symptoms improved after rosuvastatin was stopped, the pruritus resolved completely after two weeks, and mild myalgia persists.
