Abstract :
This research aims to evaluate the shear bond strength (SBS) of the ceramic orthodontic brackets Adhered to a ceramic surface (IPS E-Max Zirpress), after treating the ceramic surfaces in multiple ways, and then studying the amount of the remaining adhesive using the adhesive remnant index (ARI). The research sample consisted of 45 ceramic surfaces (IPS E-Max Zirpress) divided into three groups, which were treated using different methods, Etching using hydrofluoric acid (HFA) 10% and a combination between sandblasting with 50 µm aluminum oxide particles (SB) and hydrofluoric acid 10%, as well as roughening the surface using diamond burs then etching with 10% hydrofluoric acid. The shear bond strength resistance value in the combination group between sandblasting with 50 µm aluminum oxide particles and etching with 10% hydrofluoric acid was the highest, recording 7.23 ± 1.74 MPa, (P<0.05). E-Max Zirpress ceramic can be treated to adhere ceramic brackets in multiple methods, giving different results for the resistance to shear bonding strength. The combination group between sandblasting with aluminum oxide particles 50 µm and etching with hydrofluoric acid 10% recorded the highest results.
