Abstract : PDE4 is a cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) specific enzyme, which hydrolyses cAMP to AMP and it is the predominant isoenzyme expressed in macrophages, lymphocytes and neutrophils. Elevation of intracellular cAMP, via inhibition of PDE4, triggers the protein kinase pathway which inhibits TNFα production and other cytokines, resulting in suppress the immune response. PDE4 is a promising therapeutic target for the treatment of diverse autoimmune conditions. The present study was carried out to evaluate the anti-arthritic activity of ROFLUMILAST As individual treatments in an induced rheumatoid arthritis in rats.
