Abstract : Various mental health problems have the potential to affect the child's future and this bad condition can be caused by improper parenting. Whereas positive parenting can optimize the growth of children's development and mental health. There is still limited research related to the experience of parenting for their children. This study aims to explore the experiences of parents in providing care for their children. The type of research used is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Eight mothers who meet the inclusion criteria have been involved as participants and data collection is carried out through in-depth interviews and observations at locations agreed with the participants. In-depth interviews were carried out until saturated information was obtained so that no new themes emerged. The results of data collection were analyzed using Colaizzi analysis by reading interview transcripts repeatedly, generating coding and categories, and formulating themes. Efforts to ensure trustworthiness are carried out through triangulation and peer debriefing. Member checking with participants aims to ensure a common perception of the information conveyed. Based on the results of the analysis, five themes were identified, including limited understanding, errors in parenting, changes in children's behavior, trying to correct mistakes, and the need for partner support. It was concluded that comprehensive attention should be given to the growth and development of children, without neglecting the mental health aspects of children. Communication between parents and teachers needs to be activated to achieve harmony in conveying information to children so that children's growth and development are optimal.
