Abstract :
To conduct a comparative study between internal Lateral Osteotomy (linear transmucosal) and external Lateral Osteotomy (percutaneous) bony biopsy in rhinoplasty with the aim of choosing the optimal method that suits the patient's condition. A comparative study that included 60 patients, 30 patients underwent external biopsy and 30 patients underwent internal biopsy. Bruising was seen in external Lateral Osteotomy more than internal Lateral Osteotomy on the day following surgery, while it was greater in Internal Lateral Osteotomy after 10 days. No differences were observed regarding asymmetry and mucosal adhesions, and the percentage of patients who were satisfied with the surgical result after Internal Lateral Osteotomy was greater than in patients with external Osteotomy. Lateral Osteotomy of nasal bones is an essential part of rhinoplasty, and since there are no significant differences between the two Osteotomy methods, the surgeon's familiarity with both Osteotomy methods helps him choose the best method for each case.
