Abstract : In recent days, the family medicine specialty growing as a potential branch to meet the needs of the community as a basic-level or first-level contact physician. From this perspective, need for a lot of awareness among the general population to utilize quality family medicine services in a better way. The main objective of our study was to find the general population’s awareness of family medicine specialty and demographic factors associated with satisfaction. A cross-sectional study was conducted among the general population through google forms during the period from July 2022 to March 2023. Sample of 385, the calculation was done based on the Open Epi sample size calculator. Data were entered and cleaned using the Statistical Package for social sciences (SPSS). For the categorical analysis, the chi-square test was applied. In the present study, the population's mean age and standard deviation were 32.85 ± 9.57, and 60.2% (n-254) were males. Among the participants, 58.1% (n-245) were aware of the difference between Family Medicine specialists and general practitioners, 62.8% were about chronic disease management included in family medicine clinic and approximately 45.7% (n-193) were aware of psychiatric services included in family medicine clinic. There was significant association was observed between the male gender and excellent satisfaction with family medicine specialist accessibility (P<0.05). Based on the study results, near to two-thirds of the population is aware of family medicine clinics at PHCC and also chronic disease management at family medicine clinics. Close to half of the people are aware of basic psychiatric case management at a family medicine clinic. Need more awareness among the public to utilize quality services from the family physicians working at PHCC and it indirectly decreases the load and waiting time on specialists working at hospitals.
