Comparison of Liver Enzymes (Alanine Aminotransferase & Aspartate Aminotransferase) before and after Parenteral Nutrition in critically ill children

Abstract : Critically ill children in the pediatric intensive care unit tend to be malnourished since admission or during treatment so they need to receive parenteral nutrition. The incidence of worsening liver function after parenteral nutrition is 60% but still limited data in children. Liver disease is often a mild and transient complication, but the condition may become progressive, irreversible, and fatal in patients receiving long-term parenteral feeding. The monitoring of aspartate transaminase (AST

Estradiol serum level in women with Breast Cancer and Benign Tumor

Abstract : Epidemiological studies indicated that estrogens are one of breast cancer risk factors and most established risk factors for breast cancer in humans probably act through hormone-related pathways. This study included 50 breast cancer women, 25 women with benign tumor and 25 healthy controls. Sera of patients and controls were assessed for the level of estradiol using estradiol ELISA kit. The estradiol level was significantly decreased in postmenopausal women than premenopausal women for all study

CORRELATION OF TIP POSITION OF THE RIGHT SUBCLAVIAN TEMPORARY DOUBLE LUMEN CATHETER WITH THE EVENT OF HEMODIALYSIS ACCESS RECIRCULATION IN STAGE V CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE PATIENTS

Abstract : Recirculation is the phenomenon of the return of dialysis blood to the systemic circulation which is not in full equilibrium, the concentration of solutes in the blood in the arterial route is lower than in the systemic circulation. This indicates that the dialyzed blood is mixed with blood that has not been dialyzed. Determining the optimal position of the double lumen catheter (DLC) tip is complex and controversial. Blood flow in the Right Atrium (RA) is more static than in the Superior Vena C

The Effectiveness of Combination of Vitamin C, Hydrocortisone and Thiamine as an Adjuvant to the Standard Management of Sepsis in Intensive Care Unit

Abstract : To investigate the effectiveness of the combination of thiamine, ascorbic acid, and hydrocortisone (triple therapy) as an adjuvant therapy to the routine protocol of managing sepsis in the critical care setting. A prospective randomized comparative study done in the intensive care unit of medical city teaching hospital. Fifty patients with the diagnostic criteria of sepsis who needed admission to the intensive care unit has been studied, twenty-five of them (group A) received the combination: Vi

Evaluation of the antioxidant and antimicrobial potential of Vaishvanara Churna: A polyherbal formulation

Abstract : This experimental work was focused to study the anti-oxidant and anti-microbial potential of Vaishvanara Churna– a polyherbal traditional ayurvedic formulation generally recommended for rheumatism (amavata), flatulence with gurgling sound (adhmana), abdominal lumps (gulma), duodenal ulcer (parinamasula), heart disease (hardya roga), etc. In order to establish the scientific pieces of evidence, the formulation was evaluated for anti-microbial potential using some gram-positive (S. aureus, Clost
